Earl T. Adcock, 83, of Taylorville, passed away on December 14, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.

Earl was born February 19, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Caleb Alexander and Appolonia Marie (Stiel) Adcock.  In his youth, his family relocated to Hettick, IL, where he would graduate from high school.  Earl went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Marine Corps.

On October 16, 1968, he married Sandra “Sue” McIntyre in Taylorville, and they have enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Earl retired from Georgia Pacific after many years of service.  He was generous to everyone.  His favorite pastime was helping friends and family with whatever task needed done. It was not uncommon for Earl to start mowing his own yard and finish by mowing all of the neighbors’ yards too.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gayle E. Johnson; and sister-in-law, Ann Profrock.

Earl is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sue” Adcock of Taylorville; children, Keith E. (Diana) Adcock of Arkansas, Suzanna (Jeffrey) Adcock-Orlin of California, and Clint (Becky) Adcock of Taylorville; grandchildren, Hailey and Caleb Adcock, both of Taylorville; sister-in-law, Ellen Umberger of Taylorville; many nieces and nephews; Best Friend, Junior Workman; and his faithful companions, Lucy and Midnight, who never left his side.

Memorial contributions are suggested to: American Cancer Society, or American Diabetes Association.

Private ceremonies will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
