James Muir, 87, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on December 20, 2023, at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL. He was born on July 20, 1936, in Nokomis, IL, to the late Eugene Debs Muir and Ruby Lavonne (Ruppert) Muir. On May 25, 1956, he married Margaret Louise Stanbery and she preceded him in death on September 25, 2021.

He is survived by his son: Thomas Eugene (Loretta) Muir of Thayer, IL; daughter: Carmen Lea (Alan) Little of Litchfield, IL; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents: Eugene and Ruby Muir; his wife: Margaret Louise Muir; one great-great-grandchild; and siblings: Thomas Eugene Muir; Doris West; Alice Mercer; Phyllis Ashworth; and Barbara Rodafelt.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
