Julia Lee Nash

Julia Lee Nash, 95 of Peoria, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Carle Health-Methodist Hospital, Peoria.  She was born on December 10, 1928, in rural Taylorville, the daughter of Harry and Julia (Micenheimer) Hudson.  She marred Wendell Nash on August 14, 1954, in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on May 8, 2020.  Julia attended Center Grade School and Taylorville High School. She graduated from Millikin University with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1950.  Following graduation, she was employed at Millikin Bank in Decatur, then as assistant manager at the Palmer Grain Company. After years of being a homemaker and mother, she returned to the workforce. Julia retired from Caterpillar in 1984 where she was employed as a price analyst.  She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. 

Julia served her Lord and Savior in many ways. At Faith Baptist Church in Decatur, she led and taught Junior Church. She taught Good News Clubs, a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). She served on the board of CEF of Illinois and the CEF International Board of trustees for many years.

Julia was a woman of many interests. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and event planner. She was an avid journalist. She documented her travels to all fifty states and fourteen countries.

She will be remembered by those who knew her as a wonderful mother, faithful helpmate to her husband, and caring friend.

She is survived by her daughters: Julianne Gaston (Mark) and Laura Adcox (Tim) both of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren: Andrew Gaston (Jessica), Aaron Gaston (Megan), Kalyn Cathey (Mason), and Kyle Pilcher (Caroline); 4 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law: Margaret Boggs of Springfield.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister: Susa Jane McWard.

Julia’s family will host a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  A graveside service will take place at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Memorials may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship International, P.O.
