Taylorville – Carolyn Voorhees, 91, of Taylorville, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
Carolyn was born on May 16, 1932, in Clinton, IL, a daughter of Merville M. and Velma Pearl (Smith) Curvey. She worked as a supervisor at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Carolyn married Dean E. Voorhees on March 29, 1953, at the Palmer Advent Christian Church. An avid St. Louis Cardinal and Big 10 basketball fan, she bowled in a league for many years, and loved to go camping and fishing with her husband.
Surviving is her son, Ed (Linda) Voorhees of Morrisonville; daughter, Patricia (Tony) Lush of AR; grandchildren: Travis (Melissa) Lush, Jarrod Lush, Joshua (Kristi) Lush, Lela (Mark) Ferrill, Jeffrey (Michael Stutes) Voorhees, Andy (Jenna) Voorhees and Abby (Shannon) Murphy; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Ann Marburger of Palmer, IL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean on May 23, 2017.
Visitation will be Monday, February 19, 2024, from 12pm until the service time of 2pm at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 West Franklin St, Taylorville, IL 62568. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Morrisonville.
