Jeannette Fay Newberry, 71, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away on February 23, 2024, at Sarah Bush Hospital in Mattoon, IL. Jeannette was born on July 10, 1952, in Washington, IN, the daughter of Jerry and Barbara (Hart) Myers. She married Paul Newberry in 1971 and he survives.

Also surviving are their two daughters, Kelly (Pete) Rinehart of Pana, IL, and Erica (Kris) Detmers of Chatham, IL; four grandchildren, Kole Rinehart, Reid, Drew, and Parker Detmers; her siblings, Janice Punches of Clifton, VA; Ron (Pam) Myers of Nokomis, IL; and Debbie Myers of Pana, IL; brothers-in-law, Brad Koons of Tower Hill, IL, Bill (Julitta) Newberry of Taylorville, and Tommy (Julie) Newberry of St. Joseph, MO; sisters-in-law, Judy (Donnie) Durbin of Springfield, IL; and Linda Hart of Taylorville, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Wanda Koons; a sister-in-law, Brenda Rever; two brothers-in-law, Jack punches and Mike Hart; a great-nephew, Brandon Mann; her mother-in-law, Wanda Newberry; and father-in-law, Charles Newberry.

Jeannette was known as Nana to everyone but was the best Nana to her grandsons. She enjoyed sports, especially watching her grandsons play baseball. She also loved going to rummage sales and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

The family will receive family and friends at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL, from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. The funeral service will immediately follow. Per Jeannette’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following services.

Donations in memory of Jeannette may be made to The American Cancer Society or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
