Kristen Lance Ostermeier

Kristen Lance Ostermeier, age 52, of Edinburg, Illinois passed away on March 15, 2024 at his residence.

 

Lance was born on September 20, 1971, the son of Kenneth Ray Ostermeier and Mildred "Millie" Christopher.

 

He graduated from Edinburg High School in Edinburg, Illinois. He earned his Associate's Degree in Art from Lincoln Land Community College. Lance served in the Navy for 5 years, residing in Puget Sound, Washington, and working as a pipefitter during that time. He then served in the Navy Reserves. Later in life, Lance worked as a shoe salesman and as a store manager with Weiss & Neuman shoes.

 

Lance was a talented artist and a piece of his poetry was published. He had musical talents for the harmonica and guitar, and his favorite music was meditation and Celtic music. His interests included his family, faith, art, and music, and he was a gun enthusiast. Lance was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Edinburg, IL.

 

Lance is survived by his mother, Millie Christopher; nephew, Luke Ostermeier; aunts, Janet (Nelson) Stubbs of Henry, IL; Barbara (Jim) Mudd of Wichita Falls, Texas; Treva (John) Fiaoni of Taylorville, IL; & Willie (Doug) Murphy of Weston, Ohio; uncles, Dale Ostermeier of Edinburg, IL; Don Christopher of Taylorville, IL; & Clarence Jr. (Grace) Christopher of Decatur, IL; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ray Ostermeier; brothers, Troy Allen Ostermeier & Charles Shane Ostermeier; niece, Jade Marie Ostermeier; great-niece, Alexis Marie Ostermeier; and aunt, Susie Christopher.

 

Visitation & Funeral Services: The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin, Taylorville, IL. Lance's funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 205 N. Campbell St., Edinburg, IL, with Rev. Gaylord Spilker officiating.

 

Internment will follow the funeral service at Grove City Cemetery, 1287 E. 2450 North Rd., Edinburg, IL.

 

Memorial contributions in Lance's memory are suggested to: Tunnel to Towers; Disabled American Veterans (DAV); or Wounded Warriors.
