Barbara Curtis

 

 

Barbara J. Curtis, 90, of Huntley, IL, formerly of Taylorville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at her residence.

Barbara was born in Decatur, IL the daughter of Vollie M. and Elizabeth A. (Riley) Atkinson, she married Leslie F. Curtis, in Taylorville, IL at the Davis Memorial Christian Church, on November 14, 1954. They were married for over 40 blessed years, before his passing on February 5, 1995.

She graduated from Taylorville High school class of 1952, was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church, an avid Cubs fan, especially in 2016, when the Cubs won the World series, and loved to crochet and sew, especially for her children and granddaughters. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker, who also worked at the Springfield Clinic, Taylorville Medical Clinic, and Wal-Mart.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and sister, Doris (Atkinson) Webb.

 Surviving Barbara are her children, Debra (Brad) Townsend, Wood Dale, IL, David (Liz) Curtis, Carmel, IN, Brian (Kelly) Curtis, Huntley, IL, Bradley (Danna) Curtis, Hampshire, IL; grandchildren, Elizabeth Townsend, Louisville, KY, John (Joanne) Townsend, Wheeling, IL, Katherine Townsend, Brooklyn, NY, Ryan (Jennifer) Curtis, Plainfield, IN, Valerie (TJ) Speak, Indianapolis, IN, Jamison Brimbury, Muncie, IN, Samuel Brimbury, Carmel, IN, Jason Curtis, Woodstock, IL, Alexis Curtis, Crystal Lake, IL, Jake Curtis, Tarpon Springs, FL, and Rachael (Mike) Portesy, Oldsmar, FL; 6 great grandchildren, with her 7th great-grandchild due in September; and sister, Carole Lovett, Taylorville, IL.

Graveside service: 11:00 am., Saturday, March 23, 2024, Oak Hill Cemetery, 820 S. Cherokee St., Taylorville, IL 62568, with the Rev. Dick Wamsley, officiating.

Memorials may be given in Barbara’s memory to the Taylorville Christian Church, 1124 N Webster St, Taylorville, IL 62568.
