Jay P. Kohl, age 64 years, was born on April 15, 1959, to Irvin and Wreatha (Elston) Kohl of Mechanicsburg, Illinois. Jay passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, in the early morning hours at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois, in the presence of his close family.

Jay enjoyed hunting, mowing, eating, and spending time with his family.

Jay is survived by his Sister, Ruth Ann (Kohl) Powell of Rochester; Brother, Joe Kohl (Beth) of Edinburg; Niece, Becky Nevill (Douglas) of Rochester; Brother, Jerry Kohl (Jeanetta) of Springfield; Sister-in-Law, Bonnie Kohl (Stogdell) of Mechanicsburg; Sister-in-Law, Carol Kohl (Aufrecht) of Taylorville; Brother, Jim Kohl; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brothers, Harvey Kohl, LeRoy Kohl, and John Kohl, and his brother-in-law, Bobbie Powell.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 10:00-12:00 noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, Illinois. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor James Jones officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Grove City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or by planting a tree on Jay’s behalf.
