William "Winks" Joseph Buschon

William “Winks” Joseph Buschon I, 87, of Taylorville IL passed away on April 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Bill was born August 3, 1936, in Kincaid, IL, the son of Joe and Sally (Nash) Bucshon. He married Linda Rogers on November 22, 1956, in Kincaid, IL.

Surviving is his wife, Linda Buschon of Taylorville, IL; his children, Bill Buschon of Taylorville, IL, Melinda (Rick) Stephens of Taylorville, IL, Katherine (Randy) Eller of Taylorville, IL, John (Missy) Buschon of Mt. Auburn, and Christine (Dave) Bruns of Taylorville, IL; his grandchildren, Andy (Valerie) Buschon, Amy (Josh) Kanter of Michigan, Amanda Buschon, Audrey (Dave) Neville of Taylorville, IL, Jessica (Brian) Brink of Breese, IL, Emily (Arne Overhaug) Stephens of Taylorville, IL , Sarah (Austin) Wells of Tovey, IL, Braiden Stephens of Taylorville, IL, Colby Eller of Taylorville, IL, Curtis (Tara Sicilia) Eller of Taylorville, IL, Olivia Buschon of Mt. Auburn, IL, Grant Buschon of Mt. Auburn, Kayla (Anthony Forehand) Bruns of Ogden, Utah, and Hailey Bruns of Taylorville, IL; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sally Bucshon, and a sister, Marydell Mayernick.

Winks served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Peabody 10 Coal Mine after several years as chief electrician. He also worked for Bell Telephone, Sherman Williams Paint Store, Pittsburgh Plate Glass, and Singer store in Taylorville, IL. During his free time, he enjoyed catfishing at Carlyle Lake, working on lawnmowers, going to off road races with his family and loved spending time with his grandkids.

A private service will be held for family on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL. A dinner for family and friends will be held at 11 am at the Knights of Columbus in Taylorville. Per Bill’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church or School, Shriners Hospital, or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
