Elmer L. Beamer

Mr. Elmer L. Beamer, 90, of Bulpitt, IL passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Elmer was born on May 10, 1933, at home in King Township, the son of E. Laverne & W Darlene (Soloman) Beamer.  He graduated from Kincaid High School with the Class of 1950.  He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in December of 1950 to March of 1954 aboard the USS Wedderburn during the Korean War.  Elmer was a member of American Legion Post #905 in Kincaid.

Elmer married Brenda Binegar on December 6, 1958, in Taylorville, IL.  Elmer farmed many years at the family farm in Nokomis, IL.  He worked 36 years at Peabody Coal Company Mine #10, after retiring in 1994, Elmer worked part-time for the F.S. Plant in Tovey, IL for 20 years.

Elmer loved to watch his game shows with his granddaughter and his Western shows.  He was up for a beer with friends.  He loved to play the guitar and sing, one of his favorites was “Kansas City”.   He loved playing cards and his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.

Surviving is a son James Bradley “Brad” Beamer and daughter Wendy M. Beal both of Bulpitt, IL., two granddaughters Brianna (Nick) Kessler of Granite City, IL., and Jaclyn (Zach) Kunkler of Scott Air Force Base, Shiloh, IL., three great grandchildren, Ronan Kessler, Emrie and Easton Kunkler, two sisters-in-law Joan Beamer of Nokomis, IL and Barbara Beamer of San Antonio, TX., along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 61 years Brenda Beamer, three brothers Robert “Bob” Beamer, Gale Beamer and Lynn Beamer a sister-in-law Patsy Beamer and a nephew Greg Beamer.

Per Elmer’s wishes, private Graveside services were held with Full Military Rites on Monday, April 8, 2024, in Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee, IL.
