Kenneth J. Streit

Kenneth J. Streit, 78, of Morrisonville, IL passed away in his home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 7:40 a.m. with his wife by his side. 

 

Ken was born in Chicago, IL on March 15, 1946, the son of George & Marie (Sheedy) Streit. In 1964, he graduated from De La Salle High School (Chicago, IL). Ken was drafted for service in the Army during the Vietnam War. On November 2, 1968, Ken married Judith “Judy” Miller. They had three children.

 

Ken lived in Chicago, IL until 2004 when he retired from Chicago Communications after 40 years of service. 

 

Ken loved living in Morrisonville, and he resided there for 20 years. “It was such a quiet place to retire” he always said. His kind-hearted nature, strong-will, and generosity towards others were hallmarks of his personality. Ken was a devout Catholic and served as an extraordinary minister at St. Rene Goupil Church (Chicago, IL). He was a softball coach for team club softball for all 3 of his children, and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and was an “amateur weatherman”. 

 

Ken is survived by his wife; his children, Matthew (wife, Renee) Streit of Tinley Park, IL; Patty (companion, David Gill) Streit of Morrisonville, IL; and Theodore “Ted” Streit of Channahon, IL; 6 grandchildren, Ashley Adams; Ali Streit; Madalyn Streit; Matthew (wife, Gianna) Streit; Brenda Roman; Molly Roman; 3 great-grandchildren, Jaclyn; Jackson; & Theo; 2 brothers, Bernard Streit of Tinley Park, IL & Raymond (wife, Carolyn) Streit of Countryside, IL; 2 sisters, Mary Ricardo of Palos Hills & Kathy Myers of TX; and several nieces and nephews. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Virginia Gernasky.

 

Funeral Services: Ken’s Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Maurice Church, 706 E. 4th St., Morrisonville, IL with Rev. John Burnett officiating. 

 

Internment will be completed at a later date.
