Mark Edward Erenburg

Mark Edward Erenburg, 82 of Pentwater, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids, Michigan.  He was born on November 8, 1941, and raised in Glencoe, IL.   He was the son of Leon Erenburg, MD, and Patricia (Schaak) Erenburg.  Mark was a lifelong tennis player, and in high school, he became a state ranked gymnast, earning a 4-year gymnastics scholarship to the University of Michigan.  GO BLUE!  Following undergraduate school, he earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1966.  He married Sharon Johns Heil on March 21, 1973, in Springfield, IL.  Mark retired to Pentwater, Michigan following a long career as a University Professor and consultant specializing in labor economics and labor relations.  Outside of work, Mark was always interested in emerging technology, electronics, and computers.  In addition, Mark created and owned a radio production studio and a local FM radio station.

He is survived by his wife: Sharon Erenburg, of Pentwater, Michigan; children: Mark Heil (Sue Ellen Perry) of Taylorville, John Heil of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Kristin Erenburg (Mike  Hanna) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; grandchildren: Kurtis Heil (Jessica Engeling ),  Kraig Heil (Sarah Goetz), and Kaylee Heil, Abby Moats, Zachary Heil, Ava Heil, Nicholas Hanna, and Claire Hanna; and greatgrandchildren, Cameron Heil, Cooper Heil, Isabella Heil, Lillian Heil, and Brooks Heil. Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

A private graveside service for Mark will be held on Friday, May 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to your local hospice organization or a charity of your choice.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
