Blanche “Corky” Thomas, age 91, of Taylorville, Illinois passed away on May 2, 2024 at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Taylorville.

 

Blanche was born on September 7, 1932, the daughter of Noah Edward Harris and Blanch R. (Fisher) Harris. On April 21, 1951, she married John “Jack” Thomas.

 

Blanche worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Taylorville and then as a homemaker. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, Sunday family dinners, and her daily Polar Pop fountain drink. Blanche was a family-oriented, fun-loving “pistol” who told it like it was and never lost an argument. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville.

 

Blanche is survived by her son, John Thomas II of Kilbourne, IL; 2 grandchildren, John Thomas III and Suzanna Thomas, both of Taylorville, IL; 3 great-grandchildren, John Thomas IV, Andrew Thomas, and Katelynn Martin; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Rylee Martin, Apollo Martin, and Ares Martin.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her siblings, Russell Harris, Clifford Harris, Ralph Harris, Mildred Vancil, and Viola Molar. 

 

A private family service will be held. Blanche’s final resting place will be Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.
