Richard “Rick” Allan Rose, 65 of rural Nokomis passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 4:29 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. He was born on September 20, 1958, in Rushville, IL, the son of Robert Andrew and Betty (Sexton) Rose. Rick was a partner to Martha DeSantis, the love of his life for 30 years and she preceded him in death in 2020.
Rick was the owner of Roses Furniture Company after working for many years as the manager of Betty Roses Furniture on the square for more than 30 years. Rick had many hobbies and was most known for his love of the outdoors. He loved farm life and spent years raising chickens and cows. Rick was most known for his love of peacocks, raising many beautiful birds including an all-white one. Rick was known as a hard worker, having been a bread delivery driver before working at Betty Rose’s Furniture. He was also loved for his sense of humor and his handyman ability to fix about anything. Rick loved playing pool. He played in many tournaments, even in Las Vegas. He was a member of the Lake Taylorville Campers and APA Pool League.
Rick is survived by his Son: Robert “Bobby” Rose of Nokomis, IL; Mother: Betty Rose of Taylorville, IL; Stepdaughters: Amanda (Steven) Nelson and Jaclyn (Sam) Bajrami; Grandchildren: Max Bajrami and Alivia Nelson; Sister: Diane Scarpaci and Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father, Sister: Debbie Breckenridge and Brother: Danny Rose.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Kettelkamp Cemetery in rural Nokomis, IL with Pastor Chad Zueck officiating.
Memorials may be made to Sutton Memorial Home to assist the family with expenses.
