Shirley Ann Harrison

Shirley Ann Harrison, 95 of Springfield, formerly of Taylorville, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Arbors in Springfield.  She was born on August 16, 1928, in Taylorville, the daughter of Harold and Florine (Norris) Melgreen.  Shirley lived in Taylorville for over 70 years before moving to Springfield.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Association of St. Louise Marillac and an associate member of the Dominican Sisters.  She worked for Liberty Mutual for many years before retiring from the State of Illinois.  Shirley loved cats and provided homes for many.  Her favorite breeds were Maine Coons and rescued, and she is survived by her faithful companion Arte. 

She is survived by her children: Patrick Harrison of Springfield and Kathleen (Roger) Trusner of Decatur; grandchildren: Michael (Dava) Trusner of Naples, Florida, Jeffrey (Christina) Trusner of Monticello, Joseph (Heather) Trusner of Loveland, Ohio, and Daniel (Lindsey) Trusner of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; and great grandchildren: Logan, Tyler, Cody, Jacob, Danielle, Madelyn, Josephine, Palmer, and Maelynn.  She was preceded in death by her parents. 

A funeral mass for Shirley will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Fr. Piotr Kosk officiating.  The visitation will take place from 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. on Thursday in the Church and burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Memorials may be made to Adopt-A-Pet in Benld or PAWS in Jacksonville.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
