Gerald Alvin McMurray Sr. passed away on Easter evening March 31, 2024 at 11:20pm. 

Jerry, as most knew him as, lived to 87 years young. Jerry proudly served his country from 1955-1958 in the US Army and then retired in 1998 from a 26 year career at the Firestone Tire Company. During his retirement Jerry enjoyed traveling the United States in his camper with his family and close friends. During his off time he gained pleasure from working on the farm, watching and playing sports, dancing, fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, spending time with his family, and most of all his love of trains. 

Jerry is preceded in death by his mother Mary, father Rowley, brother George, niece Susan, and niece Jeanette. 

He is survived by his brother David, and sister Mary Lou, his children Jay, Janna, Ron, Jeanna, companion Charlie, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at Camp Butler in Springfield, IL on June 21st 2024. Service will begin promptly at 1pm behind the flagpole at the Interment Shelter. We ask all family and friends wishing to attend to arrive by 12:45pm. After the funeral services please join us for a celebration in memory of Jerry at the Golden Corral for lunch.
