Quincy L. Boggs

Quincy L. Boggs, 85, of Edinburg, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Carriage Crossing in Taylorville, IL. He was born on September 27, 1938, in Illiopolis, IL, the son of Arthur and Florine (Shields) Boggs. He married Shari Neisewander on April 6, 1957, at the Christian Church in Edinburg, IL. She passed away on October 20, 2020.

Surviving are his daughters, Kathy Kachanoski and Connie Boggs, both of Springfield, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

As a young man, Quincy worked on oil rigs and his family farm before turning to the construction trade. He was well known in the construction and roofing business, having owned and operated Quality Builders, Inc. for 22+ years. He and Shari owned standardbred racehorses and he loved to gamble – whether it was on the ponies, cards, basketball or weather. He also had a love/hate relationship with the Cubs and was an avid collector of Hull Pottery.

Quincy loved playing softball (pitcher, catcher, first base) and many summers were spent going to games and tournaments enjoying both the sport and a beer or two. He never wanted to see anyone hungry and was a regular donor to St. John’s Breadline by taking his latest great “find” or “buy” to them ... a trailer of melons and sweet corn among many other things!

He was devoted to his wife, family and church and always willing to help a friend or stranger in need. He was opinionated, stubborn and full of life and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

The family will receive family and friends at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, and a memorial service will start at 7:00 p.m.
