Phyllis J. Bouvet, 92 of Tovey, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, in her home. She was born on January 9, 1932, in Illiopolis, the daughter of Elmer O. and Frieda B. (Stanton) Ray. She married Gene Elliot Bouvet on April 30, 1949, in Morganfield, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2017. Phyllis was a member of the Midland United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a talented crafter who enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and crocheting. She also had a special place in her heart for dogs, especially Buddy who she leaves behind.
She is survived by her daughters: Christina Pezze (Tony) of Kincaid, Phyllis Harter (David) of Tovey, and Joyce Baird of Centralia, Missouri; sons: Gene Bouvet (Karen) of Jacksonville and Don Bouvet (Kathy) of Stonington; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter: Stacey Groves; and her brothers and sisters.
Phyllis will be cremated, and a graveside service will take place at 10:00a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Bethany Cemetery in rural Edinburg with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Memorials may be made to Kincaid Food Pantry. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
