Barbara Jean Jackson, 94 of Taylorville, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Hickory Estates Senior Living Center in Taylorville. She was born on August 31, 1929, the daughter of Oral and Ethel (Hill) Hayes. She married Donald Eugene Jackson on September 27, 1949, in Mulberry Grove, IL, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2011.

Barbara attended Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville. She was an avid basketball fan, especially the Illinois Fighting Illini. She was a crafter, and she loved sewing, quilting and crocheting, but her specialty was making memory bears. She loved going to horse shows, tractor pulls, and she always had the coffee on for anybody to stop by. In her later years, she loved playing games with her friends at Hickory Estates.

She is survived by her sons: Rod (Carol) Jackson of Kincaid, IL; Joe (Vicki) Jackson of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Chari Jackson of Taylorville, Heather Necessary of Taylorville, Karshia (Greg) Cook of Edinburg, Melissa Jackson of Kincaid, Jospeh (Brittany) Jackson of Taylorville, Brittany (Jeff) Jenkins of Mt. Zion; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister: Betty Radford of Pana and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Rex and Leo and her sister, Roberta.  

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A memorial service will begin immediately following the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Chad Zueck officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
