Charles Patrick “Chuck” Curtin, 64 of Stonington, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in his home. He was born on August 29, 1959, in Taylorville, the son of John C. and Alice Faye (Carpenter) Curtin. Chuck graduated from Stonington High School in 1978. He retired from the Christian County Highway Department where he worked for almost 30 years. Chuck also enjoyed helping on the family farm as well as helping other area farmers during harvest. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, John Deere, and enjoyed growing tomatoes. He also enjoyed mowing grass and detailing cars. Chuck was always willing to lend a hand to family or friends when help was needed.
He is survived by his siblings: Fred Curtin of Stonington, Beth Vincent (Glenn) of Mt. Auburn, Mary May (Todd Mann) of Taylorville, Cathy Wernsing (Mitch) of Rochester, and Jim Curtin (Shelly) of Taylorville; 26 nieces and nephews and several great nieces, great nephews, cousins and 2 uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Chuck will be cremated, and a graveside service will take place at 11:00a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Deacon Ray Roth officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Hall in Stonington. Memorials may be made to the Stonington Summerfest committee. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
