David Wesley Busby, 66, of Stonington, IL, passed away on July 29, 2024, at his residence in Stonington. He was born on August 27, 1957, in Pana, IL, to the late Wesley W. Busby and Mary Elizabeth (Duff) Busby. On August 29, 1980, he married the love of his life, Vickie Busby, in Stonington and she survives.
David began his career as a coal miner and worked for both Macon Metal and Illini Metal for many years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Stonington and of Bromwell Masonic Lodge #451 AF & AM in Assumption. He loved to spend time with his family and is dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Busby of Stonington, IL; daughter, Sarah Beth (Ray) Gray of Salcha, AK; son, Jacob Wesley Busby of Williamsville, IL; granddaughter, Molly Elizabeth Gray; sisters, Brenda Kopazy of Greenville, IL; Linda Kershaw of Coffeen, IL; and Patti England of Nokomis, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Mary Busby; sister, Sandy Wallen; nephew, Josh England; and nieces, Debra Kirby and Sadie Donaldson.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. at Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington, IL. A graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Scott Parks officiating, with interment following.
Memorials in David’s honor may be made to First Baptist Church of Stonington or to the Stonington Rescue Squad.
