Donald Bragg, 87 of Taylorville, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Carriage Crossing Senior Living in Taylorville.  He was born on February 7, 1937, in La Plata, Missouri, the son of Ralph and Nina (Wilhite) Bragg.  He married Judith Ann Friedrich on June 25, 1987, in Las Vegas, and she preceded him in death on July 21, 2023.  Don grew up on his family’s farm in northern Missouri where he learned the value of hard work at an early age.  Following a 20-plus year career in construction, Don became Superintendent of Manner’s Park in Taylorville.  Don was proud of the many years of dedication he gave to the Taylorville Park District, and upon his retirement, was honored by having the newest park facility named after him, the Don Bragg Sports Complex.  Don stayed active throughout his later years by spending many days during the week at the Christian County YMCA, swimming countless laps.  He was a big sports fan as well as NASCAR and enjoyed following his favorite driver, Bill Elliot.  Don had a love of dogs and cared for many throughout his life. 

He is survived by his children: Karla Hettinger, Kelly Brown (Gary Jr.), and Kent Bragg (Jill); stepchildren: Jeff Reid (Stephanie) and Mike Reid (Debbie); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister: Judith Nielson.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother: Darrel Bragg; and niece: Stacey Bragg.

A private family service will be held for Don, and burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  The family will host a celebration of life at Burton’s Tap on Tuesday, August 27 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m.  Memorials may be left to the Christian County Animal Control.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
