Carolyn Y. Maxwell, 72, of Taylorville, IL, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.  She was born April 22, 1952, in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Varner and Elizabeth (Liz) Dowdy Cravens.  She married David “Dave” Maxwell on August 7, 1971, in Taylorville, IL.  

Surviving is her husband, Dave Maxwell of Taylorville, IL; a daughter, Tammy (Joe) Mitchell of Springfield, IL; a grandson, David Mitchell of Carbondale, IL; a brother, Gary Cravens of Springfield, IL; her fur babies, Harlee Sue and Maggie Mae.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Danny Cravens. 

Carolyn attended Taylorville High School, graduating in the class of 1970.  Later in life, she worked numerous years as the Vice President/CFO at Taylorville Community Credit Union.  During her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandson and helping her husband with everyday tasks around the house.  

The family will receive family and friends at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024, and a memorial service will start at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tom Bellegante officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Christian County Humane Society.  The family has asked everyone to wear casual attire.
