Sarah Moore-Atchison

Sarah Moore-Atchison, 34 of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, in her home.  She was born on April 2, 1990, in Anaheim, California.  Sarah proudly served her country in the United States Army. She was deployed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2010 to 2011. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal.  She previously worked as a CNA at Taylorville Memorial Hospital and attended Cherry Hills Church.  Sarah was extremely talented in many areas from her education to sports and music.  She loved to compete and excelled in every sport she participated in.  She was a very creative, artistic person who loved music, using that talent to play guitar, took part in band in high school and played in the church band.  More than anything she will be remembered for her compassionate heart.  She would do anything she could to help those around her.

She is survived by her parents: Bryan and Magdalena Rice of Taylorville; children: Adalycia Atchison and Luke Atchison; siblings: Nicholas Moore (Amber) of Washington, Heather Reimann (Aaron) of Chatham, Megan Furbeck (Jacob) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dean Rice and Laura Rice, both of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Jeremy Moore of California; grandparents: Magdalena Reyes-Ortega of Covina, California, and Don & Audrey Rice of Walla Walla, Washington; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her father: Darryl Moore.

Sarah will be cremated and her remains will be inurned at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.  The family will host a celebration of her life at 2pm on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at her parent’s home in Taylorville.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
