Shirley Ann Wilhour, 84 of Owaneco, passed away at 2:58 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in her home. She was born on April 15, 1940, in Pana, the daughter of Fritz J. and Lucille E. (Neinstead) Hrabak. She married John Burl Wilhour on June 14, 1958, and together they celebrated 66 wonderful years. Shirley worked for several years in the deli at Frank’s County Market and Kroger and attended the Owaneco United Methodist Church. Sunday dinners were her thing for many years. Everyone was welcome and she always fixed plenty. Her children and their friends, and grandchildren and their friends were always guaranteed a good meal and lots of antics.
She is survived by her husband: John B. Wilhour of Owaneco; children: John Wilhour (Gay) of Owaneco, Ron Wilhour (Jamie) of Long Creek, Mary McChristy (Frank) of Stonington, and Bill Wilhour (Bobbie), Richard Wilhour, and Robert Wilhour all of Owaneco; grandchildren: Kelsey Berman (Dan), Ryen Wilhour (Ashley), Johannah Wilhour, Madeleine Wilhour, Sean Wilhour (Andrea), Jamie McChristy (Mike Helton), Jeff McChristy, Austin Wilhour (Desiree), Kyle Wilhour (Tori), and Katelynn Wilhour; 6 great grandchildren with another due in December, and daughter-in-law: Michelle Wilhour. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Jim Wilhour; siblings: Jack Hrabak, Ron Hrabak, and Fred Hrabak; and brother-in-law: Paul Dean Wilhour.
Shirley will be cremated, and inurnment will take place at a later date in the Buckeye Cemetery. The family will host a celebration of life on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2 until 4p.m. at the Owaneco Village Hall, 202 E Lincoln St, Owaneco. Memorials may be made to the Owaneco United Methodist Church. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
