Steven Allen Samson, 61, of Taylorville, Illinois, passed away on September 20, 2024, at his son’s residence.
Steve was born November 19, 1962, in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of Bobby and Marjorie (Southard) Samson. He was a lifelong resident of Taylorville, Illinois, graduating from the local high school, raising a family and working for several different local businesses over the years. On May 26, 1983, in Taylorville, Illinois, Steve entered into marriage with Tammy Athey, she survives.
Driving a truck was not only a career for Steve but something he enjoyed doing for many years. Throughout his lifetime he worked for Palmer Grain, Wayne Feeds, and Main Street Auto Parts as well as being a heavy equipment operator. His latest job found him working as a semi-truck driver with MBM.
He was a well-loved man, kind and thoughtful. Steve was the type of man that could make friends with any one he encountered. He never met a stranger, possessing the uncanny ability to talk to anyone about anything. In his off time, you would find him outside, enjoying activities such as hunting, fishing or building demo cars. He was also an avid gardener, growing and canning his own food. He was also a big fan of music, especially old-time country.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Marjorie; brother, Randy Samson; sister, Roberta Mollett; and grandparents, Charles and Nellie Southard; and Lynn and Lena Samson.
Surviving Steve are; his father Bobby of Taylorville, sons Aaron (Mallory DeClerk) Samson, Jacob Samson, Derek Samson, all of Taylorville, Illinois; daughters, Brandi Kuntzman of Mt. Auburn, Illinois, and Brittany Samson, of Taylorville, Illinois; grandchildren, Caleb, Tommie, Morgan, Connor, Kailey, Asher, Aubri, Iszabella, Kinsley, and Tatum; great grandson, Khyson; siblings, Janet (Stan) Gordon, Sandra (Gary) Rexroad, Richard (Debbie) Samson, all of Taylorville, Illinois and Danny (Olivia) Samson of Pueblo, Colorado; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family of Steven A. Samson.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Shafer-Perfetti Assalley funeral home in Taylorville, Illinois.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Shafer-Perfetti Assalley Funeral home in Taylorville, Illinois, with Rev. James Jones officiating.
Burial will follow funeral services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Illinois
