Norma Jean Black, 85 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at her home in Taylorville. She was born on April 2, 1939, in Tovey, IL, the daughter of Winston and Kathleen (Jack) Robinette. She married David Black in 1980 in Stonington.

Norma is survived by her husband of 45 years: David Black of Taylorville; Daughters: Tamara Green of Taylorville; Sons Michael (Darla) Brachear of Benton, IL; Gregory (Joyce) Brachear of Decatur, IL; Christopher (Amber) Thomas of AndaLusia, IL; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-Grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers; four sisters; one aunt and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 11:00-12:00 Noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Memorial service will begin immediately following the visitation starting at 12:00 noon with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating. Inurnment will be held in Harpers Ferry Cemetery in rural Palmer, IL.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

The family will be gathering immediately following the graveside service at the Palmer Community Building and they request that anyone planning to attend the services to please come dressed casual.
