Michael S. Withrow, 66, of Kincaid, IL, passed away September 25, 2024, at his residence.  He was born July 6, 1958, in Taylorville, IL, the son of Loren and Carolyn Withrow.  Surviving is his father, Loren Withrow of Taylorville, IL; his brothers, Kenneth Withrow of Taylorville, IL, and Leslie “Craig” Withrow of Mascoutah, IL; his sister, Tracy Withrow of Decatur IL.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn. 

Mike loved driving his school bus, transporting students from the South Fork School District to school and various events.  Many referred to him as “Superfan,” thanks to his love for the Taylorville Tornadoes, the South Fork Ponies, and the Minnesota Vikings.   Mike’s greatest passion was arranging music and playing the trumpet.  Throughout the years he was a member of the Taylorville Muni Band, Taylorville Big Band, the Springfield Capital Area Big Band, and the Springfield Municipal Band.  He was a guest musician and assisted many other area bands including the Mt. Pulaski Community Band, the Sangamon Valley Civic Orchestra, the University of Illinois Springfield Orchestra, and many local area high school bands.  

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville, IL.  Per Michael’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.  A private burial will take place in Frailey Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Taylorville Tornado Sports Boosters or the South Fork Sports Boosters. 

Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
