Joe Andrew Marucco, 77 of Cleveland, Tennessee, formerly of Taylorville, passed away at 12:16 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in his home. He was born on February 18, 1947, in Taylorville, the son of Andrew E. and M. Kathryn (Shadowens) Marucco. He married Nancy Koons Henck on July 5, 2012, in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington. Joe worked for the City of Taylorville Water Department for several years, retiring as the superintendent in 2002. He was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion in Stonington, Knights of Columbus 2120 in Taylorville and 4572 in Cleveland, Taylorville Optimist Club, and the Cleveland Police Department Public Service Unit. Joe was also a member of the Illinois Potable Water Supply Operators Association, the National Rifle Association, and the Cleveland Hunting Rifle and Pistol Club.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy Marucco of Cleveland, Tennessee; son: Richard Marucco (Mary) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Kirsten Hiltner (Kirk) and Kelsey Stark (Ryan); and sisters: Mary Ann Yoho of Bradenton, Florida, and Helen Crusen (Tom) of Rochester.
A memorial service for Joe will take place at 11:00a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Fr. John Burnette officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and inurnment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery. McClure Funeral home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
