Margaret "Monnie" Riggs Crouch

Margaret “Monnie” Crouch, age 80 of Greenville, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, October 13, 2024, surrounded by her family.

 

Private graveside funeral services for Monnie will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento, Illinois. Memorials are requested to Bond County Hospice or the Donor’s Choice. Memorials may be mailed to the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home, 203 West Oak, Greenville, IL 62246.

 

Margaret Riggs, the daughter of Edna Mae Oliver, was born October 20, 1943, in Decatur, Illinois. Monnie grew up in Decatur, Illinois and attended the local schools. She worked for DeMoulin Brothers in her younger years and Best Western Motel for many years doing what she loved, laundry. She often told people she enjoys making something fresh and clean. Monnie most recently had been working at the Glenwood doing laundry and enjoyed the people there so much. Playing Bingo was one of her favorite things to do in her free time, as well as a spirited card game with family or friends.

 

Margaret and Paul A. Crouch were united in marriage on August 26, 1961. They were just shy of their 60th anniversary before Paul’s passing on December 1, 2020. They were the parents of 5 children: Ruth (Marvin) Heather of Pittsburg, Illinois, Paul Crouch, Jr. of Union, Missouri, Vicky Goodwin of Greenville, Bonnie Crouch of Greenville, and Tracy Crouch of Greenville. Monnie cherished her 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

 

Monnie was one of 5 Children; she is survived by her sister Linda Strohl of Decatur, Illinois and preceded in death by her 3 other siblings: Judith Riggs, Larry Riggs, and Billy Riggs. Also preceded in death by her mom, husband Paul and a precious grandson Tommy Crouch.

 

Monnie leaves behind a host of friends and family and brother and sister-in-laws: Mick and Carolyn Crouch, Larry and Karen Crouch, Alvin and Lisa Crouch, Sandy Crouch, Sue Crouch, and Thomas Crouch, Jr. and John Crouch who both preceded her in death.
