Clayton W. Buchanan, 92, of Taylorville, IL, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing Center.  Clayton was born June 30, 1932, in Mulberry Grove, IL, the son of Ralph and Berniece (Reeves) Buchanan.  He married Gloria Gum on July 30, 1954, in Mulberry Grove, IL.  She preceded him in death on June 25, 2015. 

Surviving are their children, Kenneth R. (Mary Ann) Buchanan of Taylorville, IL; and Debra (Paul) Shea of Louisville, KY; their grandchildren, Jeremy (Cody) Buchanan of Taylorville, IL, Matthew (Kate) Buchanan of Taylorville, IL, John (Erin) Shea of Louisville, KY and Ashley (Jarred) Calbow of Virden, IL; six great-grandchildren, Chelsea Buchanan and Zander Buchanan; Lyla Force, Tucker Force, Hunter Calbow, and Olivia Shea. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Gloria Buchanan. 

Clayton served his country proudly during the Korean War as he was a veteran of the Army.  Clayton worked for Illinois Consolidated for over 30 years.  During his free time, he enjoyed working on vehicles and going out to eat with his wife, Gloria.  He also loved woodworking and traveling.     

The family will receive family and friends at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL from 10:00 a.m – 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024.  A funeral service will take place following visitation with Chad Foster officiating.  A graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors.
