Verna M Berroyer, 83 of Taylorville, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on March 20, 1941, in Pana, the daughter of William and Alta (Kessler) Arnold.  She married Lyman Berroyer in 1962, and he preceded her in death in 1995.  Verna worked for many years as the activity director at Taylorville Care Center.  She previously served her church by playing the organ, piano and singing.  She was a great cook and helped serve meals at hunting lodges for many years. 

She is survived by her children: Char Poteet (Dan) of Osage Beach, Missouri, Joy Durbin (Bo) of Taylorville, Tim Berroyer (Sheilia) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Shawn Berroyer (Shelly) of Kincaid; grandchildren: Tina Huddleston (Mark), Stephanie Gumble (Dan), Justice Poteet, Billy Durbin (Kim), Danielle Kirby (Casey), Allie Stalter (Edward), Jeremy Lynn, and Amanda Emerson (Maxx); and 12 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and grandson: Josh Durbin. 

Mrs. Berroyer will be cremated, and a graveside service will be held at a later date.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
