Janet Susan Cook, 64 of Stonington, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in her home.  She was born on January 29, 1960, in Taylorville, the daughter of Robert H. and Mildred C. (Brown) Garwood.  She married Jessie Dumont Cook on May 29, 1984, in Taylorville.  Janet was a 50-year member of the Old Stonington Baptist Church and graduated from Stonington High School.  She loved living life in the country and enjoyed caring for her animals, especially her horses and dogs.  She was a caregiver to several family members and friends.

She is survived by her husband: Dumont Cook of Stonington; siblings: Joan Bohnhoff (Kent) of Bloomington and Jill Spengler (Dave) of Stonington; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents. 

A graveside service for Janet will take place at 11:00a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Old Stonington Cemetery with Rev. Joel Lohr officiating.  Memorials may be made to the Old Stonington Baptist Church or Christian County Animal Control.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
