Susan Beth Lockard, 65 of Taylorville, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in her home. She was born on September 27, 1959, in Taylorville, the daughter of Elmer and Betty (Welge) Hill. She married Terry L. Lockard on December 17, 1977, in Taylorville. Together Susan and Terry owned and operated Mr. T’s restaurant in Taylorville for many years. Later she went to work in the customer service department at Walmart for 18 years. During her years at the restaurant and at Walmart, she got to know countless customers whom she touched with her bright smile and friendly personality. Through her work at Walmart, she led several successful fundraising campaigns for Children’s Miracle Network, a cause that was close to her heart. She was an active member at Central Baptist Church in Decatur. Through her lifelong dedication at churches through the years, Susan served in many roles including singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and as the Pastor’s secretary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and entertaining her family. More than anything, Susan was dedicated to her family, whom she loved dearly. The center of her life was her faith in the Lord Jesus, her family, and her friends, and she showed this everyday of her life.
She is survived by her husband: Terry Lockard of Taylorville; children: Josiah Lockard (Priscilla) of Milton, Tennessee, Jesse Lockard (Carmen) of Franklin, Tennessee, Sarah Lockard of Springfield, Seth Lockard (Jessica) of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Hannah Brewer (Denver) of Oconee; grandchildren: Dinah Lockard, Gabriel Lockard, Katelynn Lockard, Liam Lockard, Grady Oh, Amelia Lockard, Wyatt Lockard, Noah Brewer, and Leah Brewer; brother: Roy Hill and niece Brittany Hill of Taylorville; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service for Susan will take place at noon on Friday, January 17, 2025, at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor David Brown officiating. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Friday. A private family committal service will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
