Cherilyn Jean (Harvell) Mundhenke of Morrisonville, IL, formerly of Hewittville and Taylorville, IL, passed away peacefully at 8:55 pm on January 17, 2025, at the age of 78, while in hospice care at Taylorville Care Center.   

Cherilyn, the eldest daughter of Dudley and Betty Harvell, was born December 10, 1946 in Beardstown, IL. She married Deon Wilkinson in 1964. Later in 1972, Cherilyn married Don Harris and was blessed with their son, Shawn. In 2006, Cherilyn married David Mundhenke and they lived happily in Morrisonville, IL until his passing in 2017.   

Cherilyn attended Taylorville High School and retired from Franklin Life Insurance Co./AIG, Springfield, IL after 35 years of employment. She very much enjoyed gardening, NASCAR, boating and being at the lake, spending time with her family, friends, and her special dog companions, and trips to Las Vegas and area casinos--where her luck never seemed to run out.   

Cherilyn is survived by her sisters: Christine Harvell-Manzi of Henderson, NV, Kathy Harvell-Hemmer of Blodgett, OR and Melissa (Mark) Harvell-Randolph of Taylorville, IL; many nieces and nephews; along with extended family and friends who will cherish their memories of her and miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley and Betty; her husband, David; her son, Shawn; her brothers: Thomas “Tom” and Steven “Zeke” Harvell and her sisters: Pam and Kelli Harvell. 

A celebration of Cherilyn’s life will be held at a later date.

Her family has entrusted her care to Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL and her cremains will be interned at Morrisonville Cemetery, Morrisonville, IL.
