Edna Earle Pearson, 97 of Taylorville, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Imboden Creek, Decatur.  She was born on August 20, 1927, in Scottsville, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles Stanley Hancock and Ova (Matheny) Hancock.  She married Paul Eldon Pearson on December 18, 1953, and he preceded her in death on August 4, 2005.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Taylorville and later Bethel Baptist Church, where she was active in many aspects in the life of the church.  She previously worked at Liberty Mutual and as the activity director at Taylorville Care Center.  She enjoyed traveling, but her family was the center of her life. Edna will be remembered by her beautiful smile and a personality that could light up a room.

She is survived by her children: Paul Pearson (Becki) of Smyrna, Tennessee, Stan Bantner of Springfield, Patricia Santini of Euless, Texas, Paula Johnson of Bedford, Texas, Wreatha Joy DeMars of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Charles Pearson (Tammy) of Decatur; sister: Avo McMillen of Pana; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; daughter: Marie Watts; son: James Bantner; grandson: Nicholas Santini; sister: Leta Bauer; great grandson: Gary Rogers III; and son-in-law: Michael DeMars.

A funeral service for Edna will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating.  The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 in the church.  The burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.  Memorials may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
