Janice Eileen Funderburk

Janice Eileen Funderburk, 99, of Taylorville passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 7:45 a.m. at High Point Residence in Taylorville. She was born on June 18, 1925, in Morrisonville, IL, the daughter of Homer Dayton and Lauren Mae (Hill) Armitage. She married R. Halden Funderburk in 1947 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on December 1, 1995. Janice was a member of the Taylorville United Methodist Church, HEA- King Unit, Bear Creek Builders 4-H leader, Harvel Happy Hatters, SIA, Christian County Lady Landowners, Christian County Historical Society and United Methodist Women. She loved to travel, was an accomplished seamstress, active gardener of vegetables and flowers along with planting trees. Janice was an excellent teacher and lifelong learner.      

Janice is survived by her children: Lynn (Sharon) Funderburk of Morrisonville, IL; Beverly (Mike) Smith of Peoria, AZ; Nancy (Terry) Spooner of Peoria, IL; Judy Walden of Girard, IL; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters: Ronella Hawkins of Honolulu, HI; Dorothy Craig of Morrisonville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Mark.    

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville. Memorial service will begin immediately following the visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Brennan Hurley officiating. Inurnment will be held in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville, IL.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville or to the University of Illinois 4-H House Cooperative.

Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
