Pamela Jean Peabody, 72 of Taylorville, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, surrounded by her family in her home. She was born on June 18, 1952, in Taylorville, the daughter of James and Barbara (Corzine) Humphrey. She married Deane Peabody on June 12, 1976, in the Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville. Pam graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and began her working career as a teacher at Ramsey High School. She later worked as a business manager at the radio station and cable office in Taylorville, then several years for Ford & Specha CPA. Pam went on to be appointed and then elected to serve at the Taylorville City Clerk, a position she held for close to 25 years. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge. Shopping was another passion of Pam’s, adhering to the motto “shop till you drop”. She and Deane spent many winters in Florida where she found peace walking on the beach. Above all, Pam loved and was devoted to her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Deane Peabody; son: Drew Peabody (Lisa); grandchildren: Parker and Cameron Peabody, all of Taylorville; siblings: Peggy Peabody of North Aurora, James Humphrey (Darcy) of Taylorville, and Helen Nothdurft (Steve) of Downers Grove; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law: Dave Peabody and Mike Peabody.
A memorial service for Pam will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at McClure Funeral Home with Fr. John Burnette officiating. The visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial donations may be made to the Christian County YMCA or the Taylorville Food Pantry. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
