Helen G. Kay, 101, of Mt. Auburn, IL, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Martin Health Care Center in Bloomington, IL.
Helen was born December 4, 1923, near Rolla, MO, the daughter of Preston and Mary Edith (Elliott) Clark. She married Lyle Kay on December 27, 1947. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1989.
Surviving are her two daughters; Sharon (Don) Naylor of Bloomington, IL: and Nancy Kay of Polo, IL; three grandchildren, Tim (Jodi) Naylor of Hollis, NH; Rachel (Jacob Markish) Naylor of Washington D.C., and Matt Kay of Springfield, IL; two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Genevieve Naylor of Hollis, NH; a nephew, Kevin Forden; two nieces, Carole Rogan and Patricia Foden; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Hostetler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Alan Kay; and a sister, Wilma Bryson.
Helen was a long-time resident of Mt. Auburn. She was a second-grade teacher for Mt. Auburn School District and taught other classes around Mt. Auburn. She was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church, Kedron Eastern Star, Christian County Lady Land Owners, Christian County Farm Bureau, Christian County Retired Teachers, and Osbernville Ladies ATA. Helen enjoyed playing the piano and could play by simply listening to the music.
The family will receive family and friends at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will start at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Committal service will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
