Janet E. Dorchinecz, 84 of Taylorville, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Carle Bromenn Medical Center in Bloomington. She was born on October 9, 1940, in Taylorville, the daughter of Michael and Helen (Ludwig) Homa. She married Ernie Dorchinecz on November 25, 1961, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. Janet’s Catholic faith was very important to her, and she shared that faith with her husband, bringing him into the church as they began a loving marriage that would last 63 years. Janet graduated from Taylorville High School in 1958 and most recently worked for St. Vincent Home Care. More than anything, family was the center of her life. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren and was the biggest supporter of all their endeavors. Her 5 children were her trophies.
She is survived by her husband: Ernie Dorchinecz of Taylorville; children: Dorinda ”Rindy” Kress (Ron) of Austin, Texas, Stephen Michael Dorchinecz (Cindy) of Taylorville, Kristi Peck of Woodstock, Georgia, Bradley Michael Dorchinecz (Eileen) of La Grange, and Matthew Michael Dorchinecz of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren: Kyrie Kress, Luke Kress, Maddie Barkhust (Grant), Hannah Monks (Scott), Alexandra Ess (Garret), Benjamin Dorchinecz, Caroline Peck, Carson Peck, Griffin Peck, Annaliese Dorchinecz, and Elin Dorchinecz; great grandchildren: Nora Jean Ess, Boston Michael Monks, Beau William Monks, Ethan James Monks, and Lucas Roman Monks; siblings: Maxine Homa of Taylorville, and Michael Homa of Palm Harbor, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral mass for Janet will take place at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 7, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Fr. John Burnett officiating. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Friday at the church. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
