Stephen D. Peel, 66 of Edinburg, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He was born on February 15, 1959, in Taylorville, the son of Wayne and Doris (Schulte) Peel.  Steve previously worked as a coal miner and retired after working on a livestock farm.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors especially while hunting and fishing and loved to feed squirrels. 

He is survived by his sons: Zachary Peel (Katie) of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Aaron Peel (Ashley) of Kincaid; grandchildren: Kyleigh Patrick, Hunter Peel, Walker Peel, Colton Peel, Tynlee Peel, and Sawyer Peel; and sisters: Connie Amos (David) of Kincaid, Jackie Brookens (Larry) of Edinburg, and Jill Williams (Doug) of Edinburg.  He was preceded in death by his parents. 

In keeping with his wishes, Stephen will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
