Michael Mateer, 47, of Bulpitt, IL, passed away on Saturday March 22, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Medical Center. He was born on October 26, 1977, in Decatur, IL, the son of Mike and Denise (Harris) Mateer.

 

Michael worked for many years as a data electrician. He had many passions that included motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and any other activity that involved being outdoors. Michael loved his people and loved them all fiercely. He was the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He knew the meaning of hard work and instilled that in both of his boys. Michael leaves behind a legacy; a legacy to be proud of and will never be forgotten.

 

He is survived by his parents: Mike and Denise Mateer of Edinburg, IL; children: Kaden Mateer (Amya Robinson) of Witt, IL; Easton Mateer of Kincaid, IL: siblings: Melissa Mateer of Edinburg, IL; Marty (April) Mateer of Taylorville, IL; Melanie (Chris) McQuire of Edinburg, IL; nieces and nephews: Hunter Vocks of Taylorville, IL; Alaina Calloway of Edinburg, IL; Owen and Miles Mateer of Taylorville, IL; as well as a great-niece and nephew: Henley Vocks and Walker Vocks, both of Taylorville, IL. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leon and Dorris Mateer, and Helen and Bud Harris.

 

Family will receive family and friends on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  A funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. with inurnment at a later date in Grove City Cemetery.
