Michael A. Colbrook, 82 of Sherman passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:28 p.m. at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on August 13, 1942, in Taylorville IL, the son of Albert Harold and Mary V. (Specht) Colbrook. He married Dorothy “Dottie” Painter on November 24, 1962, in Morrisonville, IL. Mike worked as a music teacher in Edinburg for 2 years, then he worked for RJ Reynolds Tobacco, and he retired from Colgate Palmolive in Chicago. He was a avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting. Mike was also an avid Cubs fan, and he loved to watch old western movies.   

Mike is survived by his wife: Dottie Colbrook of Sherman, IL; sons: Brad (Kathy) Colbrook of Petersburg, IL; Brian Colbrook of Palos Park, IL; grandchildren: Alex (Samantha) Colbrook of Petersburg, IL; Zach (Kelsie) Colbrook of Petersburg, IL; great-grandchildren: Bryant, Brett, Lexi, Lakin Colbrook all of Petersburg, IL; sister: Nancy (Bob) Staber of Estill Springs, TN; brother: Sidney (Candee) Colbrook of Clermont, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 10:00-12:00 noon at Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville, IL. Funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation starting at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with his good friend Rich McElfresh officiating. Burial will be in Morrisonville Cemetery in Morrisonville.
