Eric R. Jones, 57, of Taylorville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 11, 2025. He was born on June 21, 1967, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of Charles W. “Bill” and Agnes Elaine (Graham) Jones.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Eric carried a quiet strength and a deep appreciation for life’s simpler pleasures. He enjoyed the scent of freshly cut grass, the familiar sound of a ballgame playing softly in the background, and timeless music from his favorite bands—The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Radiohead. An excellent guitarist, Eric found joy and expression through his music. He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed quiet moments that reflected his grounded spirit.

Eric is survived by his children: Cate Tinsley (Ryan) of San Francisco, California, Anna Jones of the Quad Cities, Carlos Jones of Rochester, and Andrew Jones of the Quad Cities; his brother, Mark Jones of Taylorville; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. His family will forever treasure the quiet evenings by the fire—where he shared stories, sparked laughter, and made time stand still.

Eric will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
