Franklin D. Nation

Franklin D. Nation, 44 of Taylorville passed away April 18, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield after a 2-year-long battle of gastric cancer. He was born on August 29, 1980, in Hillsboro Illinois, the son Jeannette Nation. He married Billie Rolfingsmeier on September 20, 2002, in Taylorville, and she survives.

 

Frankie worked for Mueller Water Products in Decatur for the past 6 and ½ years. Frankie was a gun lover, he enjoyed fishing, loved being outside, riding four wheelers, hunting, boating, and camping. He also enjoyed customizing and building guns, grilling out, hanging out with his friends, laughing, joking, and was known for pestering his poor mother in his younger years. Most of all Frankie loved his family. He loved watching his “princess’’ Morgan in her Jiu-Jitsu competitions and she was the light of his eye. Even with being sick, he always made sure to follow Morgan to every competition he could.

 

He is survived by his wife: Billie Nation, daughter: Morgan Nation, mother: Jeanette Nation and brother: Maurice Burkey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his faithful companion: Grizz. 

 

Frankie is preceded in death by his father, and his brother: Jerry Nation.

 

Per Frankie’s wishes, a visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Cremation rites are to be accorded, and a private family inurnment will be held at Glen Haven at a later date.

 

Memorials in Franklin’s memory can be made to the Cancer Care Specialist of Illinois.
