Peggy L. Frey, 82, of Taylorville, peacefully passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, at her residence surrounded by family.  Peggy was born April 29, 1942, in Edinburg, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Patton) Niemeyer. 

Surviving are her daughter, Janette McConnell of Taylorville; her grandchildren, Jessie McConnell, Brady McConnell, Kiersten Ittenbach, and Haylie Ittenbach; two great-grandsons; her brother, Thomas Niemeyer of Peoria; and her sister, Melinda (Bill) Crist of Edinburg; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Neil Ittenbach; her second husband, John Frey; a son, Neil Allen Ittenbach; a brother, Billy Niemeyer; and a nephew. 

Peggy graduated from Edinburg High School in 1960.  Later in life, she worked as the executive secretary for the State of Illinois.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Taylorville.  She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, and cake decorating during her younger years. 

Peggy’s wishes were to be cremated.  A graveside service will be held at Edinburg Cemetery on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or to Shriners Hospital.  Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
