Jerry Simmons, 64, of Hewittville, IL, left this world on Thursday, May 15, 2025, and is now reunited with his parents in heaven.

Jerry was born to Amos and Sue Simmons on January 30, 1961. He was a proud veteran who served in the Army and became a truck driver after his service. He worked for 22 years for Blackland Trucking and later started driving for FS Morrisonville. Jerry also drove part time for JRN Cab Co.

For relaxation, Jerry enjoyed his Friday nights out with his brothers. They enjoyed having some beers, shooting pool, visiting their friends, and usually would have a few John Waynes before heading home. He will be missed.

Jerry leaves behind his brothers: Pete and Raymond Simmons of Hewittville; Tim Simmons of Kentucky; an uncle; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Harpers Ferry Cemetery.

In Jerry’s honor, memorials may be made to the Christian County Animal Control.
