Frances M. Pray

Frances M. Pray, 101 of Hillsboro formerly of Coffeen passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 12:15 p.m. at Montgomery County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro, IL. She was born on January 13, 1924, in Nokomis, IL, the daughter of Edgar K. and Frieda (Schneider) Kettlekamp. She was married 65 years to Dwight Eugene Pray on February 1, 1948, in the South Fork United Methodist Church in rural Nokomis and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2013. Frances was a member of the Coffeen Methodist Church for 69 years, home extension and she was famous for her cinnamon rolls. In her later years she did a lot of needle work and she was able to make and gift quilts to most of her family.

She is survived by her sons: Dwight L. (Marcia) Pray of Harrisburg and Delmar (Marsha) Pray of Nokomis, IL; daughters: Eugenia (Mike) Barham of Thayer, IL, Phyllis (Larry) Schraut of Hillsboro, IL and Karen (Ron) Lawrence of Litchfield, IL; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brother: Kenneth Kettlekamp, Sisters: Marilyn Bauman and Georgia Janssen, Grandson: Brandon Pray and Great-Granddaugher: Hadley Wallace.    

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at South Fork United Methodist Church in rural Nokomis. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Church with pastor Delbert Pancake officiating. Burial will be in Kettlekamp Cemetery in rural Nokomis, IL.

Memorials may be made to Kettlekamp Cemetery or Coffeen Methodist Church.
