Dwight W. Taylor, 91 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in his home. He was born on January 27, 1934, in rural Morrisonville, the son of Wilbur F. and Wanna (Secrest) Taylor. He married Beverly Hake on August 5, 1961, in Springfield. Dwight attended two country schools in rural Christian County before graduating from Taylorville High School in 1951. Dwight served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. Following his time in the service he returned to the family farm where he worked until his retirement. Dwight enjoyed golfing and was especially proud of the hole-in-one he shot. He was a fan of the Illini and St. Louis Cardinals and especially loved attending his grandchildren’s games and events.
He is survived by his wife: Beverly Taylor of Taylorville; son: Jon Taylor (Susan) of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren: Emily Pastina (Luke) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Sam Taylor and Lydia Taylor both of Cincinnati, Ohio; great grandchild: Joey Pastina; nephew: Joe Dorr (Gloria) of Pana, and Dena Dorr Goeckner (Joe) of Newberry, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Taylor will be cremated and a private graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
