Douglas “Doc” R. Kohl, 47, of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 7:34 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. He was born on March 16, 1978, in Springfield, IL, the son of Douglas Lee and Mary Jane (Royer) Kohl. Doc married Katie Green on October 2, 2004, in Taylorville, IL and they later divorced. He loved fishing, mushroom hunting, storytelling and spending time with his family.

Doc is survived by his Son Jarrett Kohl and daughter: Caroline Kohl; Mother: Mary Kohl; Brother: O.J. (Julie) Kohl; Significant other: Alissa Sherwood all of Taylorville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg, IL.

In Leu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the Doc Kohl Memorial Fund at Midland Bank in Taylorville. This fund will be used to help with his kid’s college fund.
